Machines producing FFP2 face masks at 800 pieces per minute.

The world's fastest machine for producing FFP2 masks is currently being built in Italy. In a joint venture project, Italian machine builder Fameccanica and consumer goods group Procter & Gamble have implemented the production of a total of 26 machines for the manufacture of FFP2 face masks. Within only a few weeks, the development, design and production of the machines was implemented to enable the production of FFP2 face masks within Europe. An essential part of the machine is the electronic cam system from Digitronic, which enables the production of 800 pieces per minute thanks to the cycle time of approx. 100µS.

the JSOF research laboratory has found a number of zero-day vulnerabilities in Treck's TCP/IP stack. Digitronic's products do not use this stack and are therefore NOT affected by this problem.

All Digitronic products DigiWEB, DigiENERGY, bluebox and also all OEM products with integrated DigiWEB are therefore not affected by the security gap.

We would like to inform you about the discontinuation of our cam switch unit family CamCon DC300.

Completely unexpectedly and very surprisingly for us, we received the information from our supplier Yaskawa (formerly VIPA) that the IC chip obtained from them for the communication of the cam controller module "CamCon DC300" is no longer manufactured.

At the same time we were informed that there are no more remaining stocks.

These can also no longer be obtained from their partner companies.

We would therefore like to inform you in good time that the electronic cam switch units from the CamCon DC300 series will be discontinued from our delivery programme with effect from 31.12.2021.

As an alternative product we can offer you the cam switch unit "CamCon DC190" from the Digitronic product range.

In recent years, many of our customers have already switched to the DC190 cam controller series.
In addition to the fastest cycle time of 80uS,
 these products offer an Ethernet communication interface for connection to existing
 Siemens PLCs over PROFINET or other PLCs using Ethernet IP.

For systems using a PLC without Ethernet communication interface we have the cam switch unit CamCon DC16 with the Profibus module CamCon CP16 as an alternative product for the communication to a Siemens PLC over Profibus.

We would be pleased to arrange an appointment for the presentation of the products.

Since 26th September 2015, heating systems have also been provided with the well-known ErP label. This can already be found on washing machines, refrigerators and other electrical appliances. The label provides information on the energy efficiency of a product by dividing the appliances into different classes.

In addition to the individual heat generation systems, the installer will also label integrated systems. An integrated system can consist of a heat generator, a solar thermal system, a temperature controller and a peak load boiler.

For this reason, the effects of our DigiENERGY on the efficiency of the compound system are also evaluated. Because of its many functions, the DigiENERGY is classified in the highest temperature controller class, Class VIII.

Class VIII is defined as follows, according to the notification of the EU Commission (2014/C 207/02):

"An electronic controller equipped with at least three room temperature sensors, which changes the flow temperature of the water flowing out of the heater depending on the total measured deviation of the room temperature from the settings of the room temperature sensors. The control is performed by modulating the output of the heater.".

This increases the efficiency of the heat supply by 5 % according to the regulation. Although the DigiENERGY offers considerably more control options, the requirements defined in the label do not go any further.

As an installer, we provide you here with the necessary technical documentation for integrating the DigiENERGY into a integrated label.

At Siemens, the change from the Simatic S7-300 and Simatic S7-400 controller generation to the next generation called Simatic S7-1500 is imminent.

Although the latest generation of controllers will have a fast counter module, this will only have a very limited cam switch functionality. For time-critical tasks, manufacturers of packaging machines, filling and labelling machines, printing machines and presses still require the functionality of an electronic cam controller in the form of separate hardware with very fast and, above all, constant cycle time.

Digitronic's latest electronic cam controller CamCon DC190 offers an Ethernet interface for communication with PLC controllers from various manufacturers. For the exchange with the Simatic S7-1500 the protocol PROFINET is integrated in the CamCon DC190. This means that cams can be programmed, cam or product programmes can be changed, speed compensation values can be adjusted and, if necessary, the system parameters of the electronic cam switch unit can be read and written from the Simatic control. This is all done using the supplied handler and data modules.

The constant cycle time in the fastest application parameterisation is merely 80μs (microseconds). In these 80μs, the position and speed are recorded by the connected displacement encoder and the 32 digital outputs including channel-wise speed compensation are switched.

Since the Simatic S7-300 and Simatic S7-400 product lines will be replaced by Siemens in the future, machine builders will have to equip the next generations of their machines with the Siemens Simatic S7-1500 if they rely on the control system supplier Siemens. The transition will also be accompanied by a significant increase in the purchase price of the existing controls.

Digitronic now solves this problem for machine-builders with the CamCon DC190. It has 32 outputs 24 VDC onboard with a respective load capacity of 500mA per output, based on a simultaneity factor of 100%.

An additional 16 digital inputs are available to the user for direct linking in the DC190 with sensors, actuators, buttons, control elements and the like. These links have no effect on the cycle time and enable product queries in the production process using optical sensors, manual operating functions and safety interlocks. For path detection, 2 inputs for SSI absolute encoders or 1 input for incremental encoders 24 VDC are available.

The parameterisation and programming of the CamCon DC190 is done either by handling blocks in the Simatic S7 or through the Digitronic programming software Digisoft CamCon WEB.

Especially for production and packaging plants of hygienic products several angle synchronous shift registers are available to guarantee product tracking during the production process. A special software package for press control and punch automation with integrated digital and analogue cam outputs, press force monitoring and tool protection is also available.

The new software update for our heating and solar controller DigiENERGY has been available from the 02.11.2015 on.

Besides numerous slight improvements, this update would form the basis for the use of our new, free of charge DigiENERGY APP. With the help of the DigiENERGY APP, you can easily operate the control of the individual rooms of the DigiENERGY with a smartphone or tablet PC. While the DigiENERGY APP for Android will firstly be published at the beginning of November, the iOS version will be released at a later point in time.

Devices with the activated function "Automatic Update" will automatically be updated to the latest software version. It is also possible to manually initiate the update in the setup menu.

Important note: "downgrade" would not be possible.

If you do not require this update or if there is special programming on the device which were not created by the company Digitronic, then set your devices to "No Updates" or to "Check for Updates".
Please firstly carry out a backup of your product, in order to avoid any possible loss of data.

From 1st March, 2015, we have introduced the electronic invoicing. The invoices will be dispatched by e-mail in the PDF format. On 31.07.2014, the Federal Government issued the draft amendment to the Energy Services Act to comply with the EU Efficiency Directive with extensive consequences, presumably also for your company. To determine whether you are affected Article 8 of the Energy Services Act states: "Non small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) must carry out energy audits or introduce DIN EN ISO 50001". New diagrams are available for the Energy Management Server EMS in the "Benchmark" section for evaluating recorded data. The diagrams allow the values to be displayed as line or bar charts. A new addition is the representation as a 2-dimensional scatter chart in the X/Y axis system. Furthermore, it will be possible to benchmark the diagrams with other time periods or other objects in the future.

The new, comprehensive software update for our heating and solar controller DigiENERGY is available from 17th November, 2014 onwards. Devices with the activated function "Automatic Update" will automatically be updated to the latest software version. It is also possible to manually initiate the update in the setup menu.
